Matt's second page of pictures from India

A colorfully decorated truck (as we're passing it on the highway - they drive on the left, remember). "Horn OK Please"? I don't know what it means, but nearly all of the trucks had it painted on the back, and people sure did use their horns.

Our driver stopped so that we could take a picture of the sunset on the way from Lonavala to Aurangabad.

A sweeping view of the caves at Ajanta, about 100 kilometers outside of Aurangabad.

Carvings of Hindu gods inside one of the caves at Ajanta.

The canyon at Ajanta. The caves are off the picture to the right.

Paintings above a doorway and on the ceiling at Ajanta. These paintings are about 2000 years old and are still quite vivid.

This picture gives you an idea of the size of the caves at Ajanta. The caves were carved into solid rock with hammer and chisel starting over 2000 years ago.

Sleeping Buddha.

That brown smudge is a monkey in the tree. Really.

The facilities at a road side rest stop. It's a good thing that there are faces painted on each side because I can't read Hindi. Women on the left, men on the right in case the resolution isn't good enough to see.)

The 30 meter (100 foot) tall tower (Chand Minar) at Daulatabad Fort near Aurangabad.

Inside the first wall at Daulatabad Fort. The central stronghold of the fort is way up on top of the hill.

Some parts of the fort have seen better days, but, hey, it's over 800 years old.

It was hot, so a few of us decided to rest in the shade instead of climbing all the way to the top. I have no idea who took this picture - we were all sitting there resting, some guy came walking up the stairs, took this picture (with my camera), and then kept going up. It was very nice of him.

But wait, there's still more...
